Privacy Policy
Messages (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an Android SMS app. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled.
1. Who we are
The app is provided by Rutvik.
Contact: rutvikphoto@gmail.com
2. What this app is
Messages can be set as the default SMS app on your Android phone. It lets you send and receive SMS/MMS over your SIM, organize conversations, and show on-device insights such as expenses, OTPs, offers, deliveries, and reminders.
3. Information the app uses
The app reads and stores information on this device only. We do not create an account and we do not ask you to sign in.
SMS and MMS
Used to show your inbox, send and receive texts, search chats, and extract on-device insights (for example spend, OTPs, delivery updates, bills, and possible spam). Incoming and outgoing messages stay in the phone’s SMS store.
Contacts
Used only to show names instead of phone numbers.Phone / SIM
Used so you can choose a SIM when the device has more than one SIM.Notifications
Used to alert you about new messages.Microphone
Used only if you choose voice input in a chat. Audio is not uploaded by this app.On-device settings and cache
The app may save local preferences on the phone, such as onboarding status, pinned or archived chats, blocked senders, starred messages, chat look, reminder state, and a local insight cache. This stays on the device.
4. What we do not collect
- We do not upload your SMS, contacts, call details, or chat history to our servers.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs in this app.
- We do not require an account, email, or password to use the inbox.
Classification, expense totals, deals, deliveries, reminders, and spam flags are generated on the device.
5. Internet use
The app may use the internet only for things you choose or that the device needs to display the app, for example:
- opening a link you tap in a message
- opening this Privacy Policy in the in-app browser
- sending feedback from your email app
- loading app fonts, if they are fetched at runtime
Tapping a link in an SMS opens that third-party site. That site has its own privacy policy. Confirm bank, delivery, and payment details in the original SMS or the official app before you pay or tap a link.
6. Permissions
You can allow or deny these in Android settings at any time:
- SMS (read, send, receive)
- Contacts
- Notifications
- Phone (dual-SIM)
- Microphone (optional voice input)
If you deny SMS, the app cannot act as your default messaging app. Uninstalling the app removes the app and its local preferences. SMS already stored by Android stays unless you delete those messages.
7. Spam, block, archive, and delete
Possible scam texts may be flagged from the message wording. The app does not auto-block a sender. You choose when to block, archive, or delete. Archive hides a thread from Inbox. Delete removes the SMS from the phone.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Data sharing
We do not share your SMS or contacts with third parties. If you use Android features (default SMS role, notifications, sharing a message, or opening a link), those actions stay under your control and Android’s rules.
10. Security
Messages and contacts are handled on the device using Android permissions. Keep the phone locked. We cannot read your inbox from a server because this app does not upload it.
11. Changes
We may update this policy if the app changes. The new date will appear at the top. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
